Trending: Scandinavian Design

If you’ve read the United Nations’ recent World Happiness Report, you know that all five Scandinavian countries are in the top 10 countries who are happiest in the world.  The World Happiness Report measures the artfully simple – the average quality of life. But as creatives and designers, we can’t help but think their happiness has a lot to do with the calm, peaceful interiors that are so popular there.

There is tons of evidence that clutter causes stress in our lives.  It overstimulates our senses, making it difficult to relax, and inhibits our creativity and productivity.  Scandinavian design is well-known for its no clutter, minimalism. But it is also know for their concept of hygge.  Hygge is a Danish word that loosely translates to cozy. And we know personally that it’s entirely possible to be both minimalist and cozy!

We love all of the rooms below.  They are great examples of uncluttered, minimalist design that is warm, serene and grounded.  We’d love to curl up in any of them – how about you?
