With the Memorial Day holiday weekend quickly approaching, we’re bringing you our Wanderlist blog a day early because – what better way to kick-off a long, luxurious, holiday weekend than daydreaming of a beautiful and peaceful destination?
La Bandita Countryhouse is another location that we’ve been lucky enough to stay in personally; and can’t wait to visit again. Nestled in the hills of Tuscany in the Val d’Orcia region, it’s the perfect location to explore the surrounding towns.
La Bandita Countryhouse (and it’s sister property La Bandita Townhouse in the village of Pienza) was created by two former New Yorkers (John Voigtmann, marketing executive for Sony, and his wife, travel writer Ondine Cohane) who took a leap of faith – and changed their lives. (That’s something we can relate to!)
A design-driven retreat with a soothing and relaxed atmosphere, it’s the ideal place to retreat after a day spent exploring the area’s hill towns and wineries. Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza and even Siena are easily reached from here. And if you need a break from all the exploring and wine tasting (#firstworldproblems), spending time on the dreamy property is a great alternative. You just can’t beat the pool views.
There is also a private chef at the resort who creates absolutely exquisite meals. Some of our fondest memories from this trip to Italy were the family-style meals shared with the other guests in the villa. We had great conversations with people from all over the world – countries like China, Sweden, England and other locations – as we shared great food and great wine.
Next time you’re exploring Italy, plan to spend a few nights at La Bandita Countryhouse.
