As interior designers and consumers, we are always bombarded with new brands and products. It can be hard to sift through the marketing noise to find what is really worth our time and attention (and money!). It’s hard to find products with stories and souls which is so much what design is about.
We thought it would be fun to feature every once in awhile brands that we love that cut through the consumer noise for all the right reasons – brands that are socially-conscious and doing good things in the world with great style.
The Citizenry is one of those brands. A home accessories and decor brand, The Citizenry launched in August 2014.
They partner with local artisans around the world to create limited collections of home goods with a story and a soul. Their home goods have a global feel that’s uniquely and distinctly modern. The products developed by The Citizenry use only local materials; they’re conscious and mindful of working with artisans to create a sustainable relationship.
Items are created in small batches – handcrafted, hand-numbered, made in limited quantities.
When you purchase from The Citizenry, you know that the money you spend supports fair wages, safe working environments and a direct investment to artisan entrepreneurs from around the world. 10% of proceeds are directly invested back into the artisan communities through entrepreneur development grants.
A blanket from The Citizenry was used in this master bedroom project; we love not only the texture and warmth it brings to the space, but also the story and the soul.
